Shaw + Smith Sauvignon Blanc / 2026 / 375mL
Description:
The Shaw + Smith Sauvignon Blanc 2026 is a cool-climate Adelaide Hills white in a 375mL half bottle, built on bright citrus and crunchy acidity rather than overt tropical sweetness. The smaller format makes it a sensible pour for one or two people, a midweek glass with dinner that does not commit you to a full bottle.
Lifted and aromatic from the moment it is poured, this Sauvignon Blanc from the Adelaide Hills leads with lime, white nectarine and snow pea, with a faint chalky, flinty edge sitting behind the fruit. There is a little passionfruit there too, but it is held in check by the cooler-grown herbal character the region is known for.
The palate is dry and tightly drawn, with a fine line of acidity running from front to finish and a light saline grip through the middle. Texture is slippery rather than broad, and the finish is clean and citrusy, closing short and crisp instead of lingering sweetly.
Serve it properly cold with Sydney rock oysters, salt and pepper squid, goat's cheese on toast, or a simple roast chicken salad with plenty of lemon. The half bottle also earns its place as an aperitif before a bigger red gets opened.
