Description:

Tasting Notes:

Lethbridge Pinot Noir attracts first with its aroma of mushroom, and earth, enticing with some exotic dark cherry, wet leaves and a hint of jasmine.

Following the scent, there is the anticipation of taste, and if you have chosen well, expect some flavours of dark cherry with undercurrents of earth and spice.

Texture-wise, this Pinot has a smooth and silky mouthfeel.

Flavour, body, and finish built to drink on release or age.

Winemaking:

Sourced from four single vineyards in Geelong, two in the Moorabool Valley (Hillside Haven & Springbank) and two from the Bellarine (Hat Rock & Suma Park)

Another cool year with substantial rain provided vigorous growth but an overall beautiful balance was achieved between canopy and yield.

2021 is likely to join 2017 as one of our best, balancing elegance with concentration.

All fruit was handpicked and fermented separately to keep the individual vineyard characters distinct.

Each parcel was treated the same; wild yeast fermented with around 50% whole bunches.

The wine was then matured for 10 months in 35% new French oak barriques. Malolactic conversion finished in spring with only minimal sulfur additions.

About Lethbridge Wines:

There are few tales as impressive as that of Lethbridge Wines. Ray Nadeson and Maree Collis were both successful medical researchers before succumbing to their desire to create a vineyard and winery in Geelong.

They planted vines on their own rootstocks, built a straw-bale winery and house, and farmed the land according to biodynamic beliefs. Their wines are powerful, structured, pure and long-lived.
