Tasting Notes:

Aromas of meyer lemon, nectarine and jasmine.

La Crema's Sonoma Coast Chardonnay show flavours of crisp green apple, tangerine and yellow plum - concentrated and juicy with a lingering finish.

Once picked the fruit is gently pressed and allowed to settle for 24 hours before being racked to oak barrels for fermentation. 15% of the barrels are initially co-inoculated with a house strain of malolactic bacteria which are later used to top off the remainder of the entire lot after primary fermentation is complete.

The lees in each barrel are stirred once or twice a month to provide additional texture.

The finished wine is aged on lees for 7 months before final blending and bottling and matured for 7 months.

Vintage Notes:

The 2020 growing season on the Sonoma Coast was close to perfect. Winter was relatively dry with rainfalls about 50% of normal levels was followed by a relatively warm Spring.

As a result, budbreak and fruit set were balanced.

Summer was a dry and warm growing season.

A long slow ripening season produced grapes with distinct flavors, aromas, and vibrant acidity.

La Crema 2020 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay harvest began on August 21.

Region Notes:

One of Sonoma County’s largest AVAs, the Sonoma Coast Appellation stretches from the San Pablo Bay in the South to Mendocino County line to the North and runs primarily along the mountainous coastline of the Pacific Ocean. A sprawling growing region, the Sonoma Coast AVA is known for its strong maritime influence that provides a cool growing climate throughout the year with fog moderating warmer summer temperatures.

With its unique geography and climate, the Sonoma Coast has proven itself to be one of the world’s premier Chardonnay producing regions.

About La Crema:

Over 30 years of experience working with chardonnay and pinot noir have established La Crema as a winery of consistent quality.

La Crema produces wines from top cool-climate appellations to include; Russian River Valley, Sonoma Coast, Monterey and most recently Willamette.

The unifying factors of all these sites are their cool, windy climates and marine-based soils.

La Crema's vineyards are all harvested by hand in the cooler morning hours. The winemaking techniques are primarily traditional with modern enhancements to ensure that the wines are true to both the variety and the terroir

Chardonnays are whole-cluster pressed and fermented and aged in French oak on the lees with bi-monthly battonage to add texture and complexity.

The Pinot Noirs are cold soaked for five to eight days before fermentation in small, open-top fermenters and aged in a combination of new and used French oak barrels.

As with the Chardonnay, La Crema's Pinot Noirs are pure, accurate and reflective of their origin.

Outstanding vineyard sources, limited yields and artisanal wine making produce wines that receive high acclaim.
